UNITY BANK OPENS IN SOUTH LAKEWOOD, FIRST COMMERCE BANK OPENING SOON IN JACKSON

Ocean County has lost almost 25% of its bank branches in the past decade, leading county officials to express concern that our senior citizens - who often don't have access to online banking - are underserved by the current population of banks.

The good news is that a new bank just opened in the southern end of Lakewood and another bank is opening soon in Jackson.

Earlier this year, Unity Bank established a commercial and residential lending office at 1255 Route 70, at the intersection with Airport Road. This is formerly the site of a Capital Bank branch which closed several years ago.

Unity has now opened a new full service branch at this site, and will now provide the full scope of local banking services at the approximate 1,800-square-foot space location.

Unity Bank President & CEO James A. Hughes stated, “our commercial and residential lending team has made significant inroads serving the unmet needs of the local community so the new branch is a logical extension of these efforts. Lakewood has been the fastest growing municipality in the state so this new branch makes good sense for the community and Unity.”

Details of a grand opening event for the Lakewood branch will be announced in January.

First Commerce Bank, whose corporate office is located at 105 River Avenue in Lakewood, and now has 10 locations across the Garden State, intends to soon establish a full-service branch office at 2080 West County Line Road, in Jackson (currently the Bagel King shopping center, in proximity to NPGS Jackson), FAA News has learned.

First Commerce Bank has filed an application for FDIC consent to establish a this full-service branch office.

Any person wishing to comment on this application may file his or her comments in writing with the Regional Director of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation at its Regional Office, 350 Fifth Avenue, Suite 1200, New York, New York 10118-0110 not later than December 14, 2022.

The non-confidential portions of the application are on file in the Regional Office and are available for public inspection during regular business hours. Photocopies of the non-confidential portion of the application file will be made available upon request.
