LAKEWOOD'S VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATIONS RECOGNIZED AS "OFFICIAL PARTNERS"

Lakewood is serviced by numerous volunteer services including the Lakewood Volunteer Fire Department, Lakewood  Volunteer First Aid, Hatzolah, Lakewood Civilian Safety Watch, Local Search And Rescue, Bikur Cholim, and Misaskim.

A number of these agencies are already considered unofficial partners of the Township's Office of Emergency Management, and make use of the Township's resources and grant funding.

Today, the Lakewood Township Committee adopted a Resolution formally recognizing all of these volunteer groups as official partners with the Township Office of Emergency Management (OEM).

The Resolution notes that "the Lakewood Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is a very much needed and active department, OEM depends on volunteer agencies, and there is a strong feeling of volunteerism and community involvement within the OEM as the citizens of Lakewood look to give back to the town."

The Resolution further states that "a need exists to recognize these volunteer groups as official partners."

The Resolution then hereby recognizes the above listed volunteer services as "official partners with the Township of Lakewood Office of Emergency Management."

Township Manager Patrick Donnelly explained that the purpose of the Resolution is "a gesture intended to recognize their volunteerism and efforts towards the betterment of the local community."
