LAKEWOOD INTERSECTIONS TO RECEIVE ALL-WAY STOP SIGNS

By request of area neighbors, and the recommendation of Lakewood Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit, Lakewood's Township Committee is expected today to approve changing the Clifton Avenue & Courtney Road intersection to all-way stop.

To further guide drivers, the new stop signs will also receive blinking lights.

Additionally today, the Committee is expected to introduce an Ordinance changing the Kiryas Sanz Avenue/ Shefa Chaim Street in the Oak and Vine neighborhood into an all-way stop.

If approved today on first reading, the Committee will hold a public hearing and vote on final reading at their next meeting. The new stop signs will be installed soon after the final vote.

As a reminder, the rules of right-of-way are as follows: The first vehicle at the intersection goes through the intersection first. When two vehicles arrive at the intersection at the same time, and are located side-by-side, the vehicle furthest to the right has the right of way.

Additionally, FAA News reminds you that state law prohibits parking within 50 feet of all stop signs, including new all-way stop signs.
