WILL UKRAINE ACTUALLY LIMIT UMAN PILGRIMAGE FOR THIS ROSH HASHANAH?

Every year for Rosh Hashanah, tens of thousands of Breslov Chassidim travel to be by the grave of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov in Uman.

However, Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel Yevgeny Kornichuk today announced that Ukraine is considering greatly limiting the number of Israelis who will be allowed to visit Uman for Rosh Hashanah this year.

Kornichuk said that this decision was made for the safety of the Israelis, saying that large crowds may tempt Russia to target them.

Kornichuk did not specify what limits exactly the government is seeking to impose.

It is unclear if the Ukrainian government is only seeking to limit the number of Israelis, or also Americans.

Kornichuk officially made this announcement in the name of the Ukrainian government. However, it is possible that he has a personal agenda because last year as well, Kornichuk stated that the Ukrainian government would restrict the annual pilgrimage, however, in fact the government did not actually restrict the pilgrimage.

Good chance that it won't be blocked in the end. There's no way they can stop soo many coming in from soo many different border crossings.
Lately they start this nonsense every year, we're not going to let them in. I have a suspicion it's instigated by the Israeli government, just like in the Covid years, it usually comes out the motivation for these announcements.
