CONG. OHEV YISROEL ENTERS CONTRACT TO PURCHASE LOT IN JACKSON SLATED TO PERMIT SHULS BY-RIGHT

Congregation Ohev Yisroel has just formally entered into a contract to purchase the property located at 250 North Hope Chapel Road, FAA News has learned.

The property is located in Jackson, very close to the border with Lakewood Township.

The seller is Lakewood-based AJS Property Holdings LLC.

The parcel is 1 acres in area, and it is located in the R-3 zoning district.

Currently, houses of worship are permitted in this zone only as a conditional use on a minimum lot area of 2 acres.

However, under the Township's pending Ordinance 14-23, houses of worship are slated to be permitted in this zone on a minimum lot area of 1 acres, therefore, a shul would not require Conditional Use Variance relief from the Zoning Board.

Pursuant to the Consent Order with the U.S. Justice Department, religious bath facilities as an accessory use would also be permitted.

Attorney Miriam Weinstein Esq. is representing Congregation Ohev Yisroel in their purchase of the property.

The property is currently assessed $470,700. 2023 annual property taxes were $12,402.95.
