LAKEWOOD'S AIRPORT ROAD BEING REPAVED THIS WEEK

Airport Road from the Garden State Parkway ramp to Route 70 is currently receiving a face lift.

This work is being done by contractors working for the LIC which oversees the Lakewood Industrial Parks and acts as a business community ombudsman on behalf of the township.

This project also includes milling, repaving and restriping Paco Way from Oak Street to the Renaissance property line and Corporate Road West from Towbin Avenue to Paco Way. The milling and paving of those roads have already been completed. The restriping work remains outstanding.

The work along Airport Road was delayed until now due to the weather. The milling and paving work is expected to be completed over Rosh Hashonah, with the restriping work to be completed on Monday.

In previous years, the Township was able to repave industrial park roads through state grants and shared services agreements with Ocean County which permit the work to get done at a significantly lower cost. Currently, however, these funding sources are unavailable to the Township so the LIC decided to use their own funds, which come mainly from industrial park land sales, to cover this repaving work which aims to promote the economic well-being, industrial and economic development of the Township.

The LIC awarded a $181,500 contract to Colliers Engineering and Design of Red Bank, New Jersey for the design, permitting, construction documents and construction administration/inspection services for the project.

The contract for the paving was awarded to Earle Asphalt Company of Farmingdale, New Jersey for $999,713.13.
