LIVESTREAM OF TOWNSHIP MEETING DID NOT WORK FOR FIRST HOUR - NO EXPLANATION FROM THE TOWNSHIP

The Lakewood Zoning Board meets once per month on a Monday night. The meeting takes place in person at Town Hall, beginning at 7:00pm.

The meeting is viewable via livestream on the Township's website.

However, the livestream of last night's meeting of the Zoning Board did not start working until 7:55pm.

At 7:35pm, Mayor Ray Coles was made aware that the livestream was not working. At 7:49, Mayor Coles got the Township's IT guys to work. The livestream began working 5 minutes later.

The Township has not made any public statements to explain why the livestream did not work for the first 55 minutes of the meeting.

As previously reported here on FAA News, the Board agreed to waived their previous conditions of approval after the Township's Zoning Officer erroneously approved a plot plan which did not comply with their conditions of approval.

As previously reported here on FAA News, the Board overwhelmingly denied an application for a new 14 duplex structure development (28 homes plus basement apartments) on the north side of Route 70 between New Hampshire Avenue and Vermont Avenue, after Aaron Hirsch - who is running against Harrison Pfeffer who is seeking reelection for membership on the Lakewood Board of Fire Commissioners - spoke up in strong opposition to the application, urging "the safety of Lakewood children should be our priority over development."

An approval of this Use Variance application could have added an additional 100 cars to this corridor, where a teenager was recently struck and killed while attempting to cross Route 70.
