Shalva High School was founded in 2017 by a dedicated group of askanim with backing of many Lakewood rabbonim. The school aims to provide a warm, wholesome educational program for Lakewood girls who were unable to succeed in a traditional high school.
For the past few years the school has been located at 555 Joe Parker Road in Lakewood.
The school is now set this Tuesday, April 15, to seek approval from the Jackson Township Planning Board to relocate to 417 Basso Street in Jackson.
The proposal is to construct an approximately 1,000 square foot addition and outdoor 460 sq foot terrace to the existing two and one half story single-family home.
At completion, the structure will contain 7,600 square feet.
The application pending before the Board is for Preliminary and Final Major Site Plan approval to construct the addition to enable operation of the small school.
The use is permitted in the zoning district and no variances are being sought.
The application is seeking design waiver relief with respect to: (i) shade tree and utility easement adjacent and parallel to existing streets which border the proposed development; (ii) minimum buffer area along side and rear property lines which abut areas zoned for residential use and along front property lines on local, minor collector and major collector streets which abut areas zoned for residential use; (iii) providing screening within a required buffer area; (iv) parking within a front yard setback; (v) providing an unbroken landscaping strip along side and rear property lines a minimum of 10 feet in width; (vi) providing required sidewalk and curbing along street frontages; (vii) minimum width of landscaping area for refuse storage enclosure, respectively.
This matter has been placed on the agenda of the Jackson Township Planning Board for April 15, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Meeting Room at the Jackson Township Municipal Building, located at 95 West Veterans Highway, Jackson, New Jersey 08527, at which time you may appear in person or by an attorney and present any comments and/or objections you may have to the relief sought.
Public records obtained by FAA News indicate that 417 Basso Street was purchased by Chaim Gross on January 5, 2023 for $1,200,000. Gross purchased the property from Richard Michael Jr. Demarco who purchased it on April 15, 2021 for $659,000.
555 Joe Parker Road was purchased by Chaim Gross on May 6, 2019 for $690,000.
