HT BUS SERVICE AND CONGREGATION SANZ OF LAKEWOOD SLAMMED WITH LAWSUITS ON SAME DAY



All in one day, two Lakewood school bus operators were slammed with civil lawsuits over crashes occurring with their buses.


According to the first complaint, filed by Jersey City Attorney Philip Granite, Esq.: 


On April 2, 2024, Mathew Lawler-nielsen was a pedal cyclist traveling across West County Line Road at Cedar Row in Lakewood when a HT Bus Services school bus being driven westbound on West County Line Road collided into him.


The driver "failed to observe traffic conditions and failed to maintain proper control of his automobile as to cause a sudden, violent and unexpected collision" with Lawler-nielsen.


The driver's actions were negligent and/or careless including by: (a) failing to make proper observations; (b) failing to maintain proper control of his automobile; and (c) driving at an excessive and unsafe rate of speed.


"As a direct and proximate result of the bus driver's negligence in causing the automobile collision, Lawler-nielsen was seriously and permanently injured, suffered and will in the future suffer great pain and mental anguish, was and will in the future be prevented from engaging in his usual pursuits and occupations, and was and will in the future be required to expend substantial sums of money for medical treatment in an effort to effect a cure for his said injuries."


The suit demands a trial by jury.


According to the second complaint, filed by Toms River Attorney Michael P. Cahill, Esq.:


On February 14, 2023, Alexis Garcia was driving on Cox Cro Road in Toms River when a Congregation Sanz of Lakewood bus driver collided into him.


"The driver operated the bus in such s careless and negligent manner so as to cause the collision. As a result of the collision, Garcia was caused to sustain severe permanent injuries as well as serious economic loss including for medical expenses, all of which are expected to continue into the future."


The suit demands judgment for damages, interest, costs of suit, and such other relief as this Court may deem just and equitable.


Both school bus operators have 35 days to answer the complaints.
