LAKEWOOD ZONING BOARD CHAIRMAN QUESTIONS WHY DEVELOPMENT HAS INSUFFICIENT PARKING

Back when the Lakewood Zoning Board approved the Chestnut Gardens development, they expressed concerned regarding sufficient traffic flow throughout the development. Accordingly, they conditioned their approval on the developers prohibiting on-street parking.

The Homeowners Association recently converted the two-traffic road to a one-way traffic loop.

Along with the new traffic plan, the HOA now requested that the Zoning Board lift their on-street parking restriction.

"We don't have much on-street parking as is, and reducing or restricting it would create significant inconvenience for residents and visitors alike," the HOA's correspondence states.

Board Chairman Abe Halberstam wondered aloud why indeed the development has insufficient parking, implying that there may be more apartments than permitted with their approvals.

Board Member Mordy Gross agreed.

The rest of the board dismissed this concern and cheerfully approved the correspondence request.
