MONDAY: MEMORIAL DAY


Monday, May 26, 2025, coincides with Memorial Day 2025, a federal and state holiday to remember and honor the Americans who died serving in the U.S. military.


The annual parade will take place in Lakewood. Details below:




Many businesses and government offices also close for the day to give their employees a break.


All federal offices, including the United States Postal Service will be closed. There will be no regular mail delivery on Memorial Day.


FedEx and UPS also will not be delivering, except for UPS Express Critical and FedEx Custom Critical.


FedEx offices have modified hours while most UPS offices are closed. It’s best to check with your local FedEx or UPS office for operating hours.


All state offices, including Motor Vehicle Commission locations and courts will be closed.


Local municipal offices will be closed. In Lakewood, there will be no trash pickup today. Everyone's pickup will move ahead one day this week.


Most banks will be closed.


Most major supermarket chains will remain open with regular or reduced hours. Costco, however, will be closed.


All major retail stores and malls should be open, along with most shopping centers.


NJ Transit will have regular weekend and major holiday rail services in effect. Buses will operate on either a regular Saturday or a regular Sunday schedule.


For NJ Transit, riders should use NJ Transit’s online trip planner to double-check arrival and departure times.


SEPTA will operate on a Sunday schedule while PATH will operate on a modified Saturday schedule.


The next federal holiday is Juneteenth on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
