Central Jersey Hatzolah has just been hit with a bombshell lawsuit alleging serious and permanent injuries caused by a pair of back-to-back vehicle collisions involving one of its ambulance drivers, FAA News has learned.
The plaintiff, Delmy Maribel Acevedo De Valldares, claims she was struck twice in succession while driving eastbound on Central Avenue on June 14, 2023. According to the complaint filed in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Ocean County, Acevedo De Valldares was first rear-ended by a Hyundai Sonata. Shortly after, a Hatzolah ambulance allegedly pulled over too sharply and struck the front of her already-disabled vehicle.
The plaintiff asserts she suffered severe physical injuries, mental anguish, and financial losses as a result of the collisions. The lawsuit accuses Hatzolah's driver of negligent, careless, and reckless operation of the ambulance, and holds Hatzolah Emergency Medical Services liable for allegedly permitting a “reckless, incompetent and/or irresponsible driver” to operate its emergency vehicle.
Representing the plaintiff is attorney John H. Sanders, II of Shebell & Shebell, LLC, based in Shrewsbury, New Jersey.
The complaint seeks compensatory damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and other losses. A jury trial has been demanded.
Hatzolah has 35 days to answer the Complaint.
Ironically, the very group that once mocked Hatzulas Nefashos, calling them “inexperienced ambulance chasers” is now chasing legal cover of its own - after allegedly slamming into a woman with one of its own ambulances.
