Congressman Josh Gottheimer - who is seeking our community’s support this election day - has consistently expressed support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and has joined colleagues in cautioning Israel against settlement expansion.
In a letter co-signed by several House Democrats, Gottheimer called on the Israeli government to “refrain from unilateral moves that hinder peace prospects,” specifically citing construction in Judea and Samaria. He has also supported continued U.S. funding for Palestinian aid programs, some of which have drawn scrutiny from pro-Israel advocacy groups.
"We must preserve the possibility of two states," Gottheimer said in a congressional briefing, "and that means avoiding actions that could make peace harder to achieve."
While Gottheimer has backed Iron Dome funding and condemned Hamas terrorism, his alignment with centrist and progressive Democrats on sensitive Israeli policy matters has raised questions among the pro-Israel community.
Primary Election Day is this Tuesday.

As long as the numbers work out for those in charge, the people following them often become blind — voting against their own best interests without even realizing it.
As long as the power brokers get their cut, they don’t care if the people they’re leading walk off a cliff. Blind loyalty has people voting straight into their own downfall — and calling it leadership.
Of course the Vaad is pushing this trash. Heck, maybe we can catch up to New York values and then cry when the state demands we teach our children subjects not in line with our religion.
Many gedolim agree with that position as well.
