Less than two weeks ago, Jackson Township Councilman Mordy Burnstein announced his support of Ken Bressi - who was appointed to fill Scott Sargent's unexpired term - for another term on the Council.
However, since then, Bressi has quietly stepped down from the race, FAA News has learned.
Chris Pollak, an activist, an outspoken critic at Council meetings, is now running for the vacant position.
Below is Chris's statement as provided to FAA News:
I want the people of Jackson to know what’s happening.
I first got involved involved writing political articles about Jackson Township politics and once it started getting attention and the ire of the establishment, my personal Facebook account was banned.
Now, as of August 26th, my campaign’s Facebook page and my Instagram account have both been taken down. This is not a coincidence. This is targeted.
What we’re seeing is the weaponization of government against me and those that support me. We have a tax payer funded news source attacking, smearing, and lying about me while writing fluff pieces about the council. The council using meeting and a government platform to attack and lie about me.
The truth is, I’m not saying anything radical. I’m saying what most people in this town already feel. I’m addressing the issues families face every day. I’m saying out loud what everyone else is thinking. And that’s why they’re coming after me.
This isn’t just an attack on me.
It’s an attack on you.
On every concerned resident. On every parent who cares about their child’s future. On every neighbor who would dare to speak up. They want to make me an example. They want to silence me to send a message to you.
They are really coming after you.
I’m just the one standing in their way.
This is the same playbook we’ve seen on the national level: deplatforming, censorship, and intimidation. Now it’s happening in Jackson. They don’t want fighters, they don’t want disruptors, and they certainly don’t want someone who won’t play their game.
But here’s what they don’t understand.
I’m not backing down. I’m not a politician. I’m one of you. A concerned resident, a parent, a blue collar worker, a business owner, and someone who cares about this town.
I’ve fought in the ring and I’ve fought crime in the streets long before politics. And I’ll keep fighting no matter what platform they take away, no matter what smears they spread, no matter what power they try to use against me.
This isn’t about me, it’s about us. And together, we’re not going to be silenced.
I need your help to fight back and win.
