MOSHE RAITZIK: A FRESH VOICE FOR LAKEWOOD TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE

Lakewood voters already delivered a powerful message in June's Republican primary when Moshe Raitzik defeated incumbent Committeewoman Deborah Fuentes in the primary vote count, finishing approximately 440 votes ahead of her.

That was no small accomplishment.

For years, residents have complained about a lack of responsiveness from Township officials, growing traffic congestion, development pressures, pedestrian safety concerns, and decisions being made without sufficient public accountability.

Raitzik brings substantial experience in public service.

He has served on the Lakewood Board of Education, spent years on the Planning Board, and was elected to the Lakewood Board of Fire Commissioners in November 2025.

He understands how local government works — and, importantly, he has demonstrated a willingness to step forward and challenge the political establishment.

As FAA News previously reported, Raitzik's primary victory represented a significant political setback for Lakewood's entrenched leadership.

Now voters have the opportunity to finish what they started in June.

This is not merely about electing another Township Committee member. It is about sending a message that elected officials must be accessible, accountable, and responsive to the people who put them in office.

LARRY LOIGMAN: PUTTING TAXPAYERS BEFORE POLITICS

There is another critically important race on today's ballot — and one that voters should not overlook.

Three candidates are seeking two seats on the Lakewood Board of Fire Commissioners: Dovid Bender, Larry S. “Levi” Loigman, and incumbent Harrison Pfeffer.

FAA News is endorsing Larry Loigman and urging voters to elect him over Harrison Pfeffer.

Loigman is a longtime public servant and attorney who has repeatedly demonstrated his willingness to question government spending and stand up for taxpayers.

During his previous service on the Fire Board, Loigman advocated for tighter controls on professional fees, greater transparency in government contracting, and stronger safeguards against conflicts of interest. That is precisely the kind of fiscal oversight Lakewood taxpayers deserve.

Loigman's advocacy has extended beyond the Fire District. In 2024, FAA News reported how he went to bat for Orthodox Jewish residents of Greenbriar Woodlands in Toms River, filing a civil rights lawsuit over their condominium association's refusal to permit an eruv.

When others are reluctant to get involved, Loigman has shown that he is willing to stand up and fight.

LOIGMAN: MODERNIZE THE FIRE DISTRICT WHILE PROTECTING TAXPAYERS

In announcing his candidacy, Loigman emphasized that he wants to continue modernizing the Lakewood Fire District while looking for opportunities to reduce expenses.

His priorities include seeking state and federal grants, selling unneeded assets, acquiring modern firefighting technology, and supporting Lakewood's volunteer firefighters.

Loigman also expressed concern about what he described as the increasing influence of politics in Fire District operations.

> “The residents and businesspeople of Lakewood deserve a cost-effective fire department, and that is what my objective in serving as fire commissioner has always been.”

Those words matter.

Lakewood's firefighters perform an essential public-safety function. They deserve the resources and equipment necessary to protect the community.

But that does not mean taxpayers should be expected to write blank checks without meaningful oversight.

A strong Fire Department and responsible fiscal management are not competing priorities. Lakewood deserves both.

FAA News has spent years reporting on troubling issues involving the Lakewood Fire District.

We have also raised questions about professional contracts, transparency, spending, and accountability.

These are not merely abstract political issues.

They affect public safety, property taxes, and the level of confidence residents can place in their local government.

Loigman has demonstrated a willingness to challenge questionable decisions, even when doing so puts him at odds with fellow commissioners.

That is why FAA News believes Lakewood voters should elect Larry Loigman instead of Harrison Pfeffer.

THE TIME FOR COMPLAINING IS OVER. THE TIME FOR VOTING IS NOW!

Every election season, residents complain about traffic, taxes, development, government spending, and public officials who don't listen.

Today, voters have an opportunity to do something about it.

The Lakewood Township Committee race is for two seats. Moshe Raitzik is on the ballot alongside Republican incumbent Deborah Fuentes and Democratic candidates Raymond Coles.

The Fire Commissioner election also permits voters to select up to two candidates.

You do not have to vote for two candidates in either race. You can vote for just one candidate if that is your preference.

For those seeking change, FAA News is recommending:

MOSHE RAITZIK

Lakewood Township Committee

---

LARRY S. “LEVI” LOIGMAN

Lakewood Board of Fire Commissioners

Polls close at 8:00 p.m. tonight. Voters who are in line by closing time are entitled to vote.
