WASHINGTON AVENUE AND OTHER ROADS IN LAKEWOOD TO RECEIVE A FACE LIFT INCLUDING SIDEWALKS

Several roads in Lakewood, including the entire stretch of Washington Avenue, from Spruce Street to Pine Street, will soon receive fresh pavement, and a much appreciated sidewalk, under a major road improvements contract which Lakewood's Township Committee just awarded!



The $2,072,913.13 contract, which was awarded today to Earle Asphalt Company of Farmingdale, NJ, includes road reconstruction, milling, paving, concrete sidewalk, concrete driveway aprons, curb ramps, detectable warning surfaces, curb, pavement striping, tree removal, tree planting, inlet repairs, installation of inlets and pipes, and site restoration along Stirling Avenue between Holly Street and North Oakland Avenue; the entire stretch of North Oakland Avenue; East 5th Street between Ridge Avenue and Negba Street; Manetta Avenue between East 5th Street and Ridge Avenue; Bergen Avenue between Clover Street and Holly Street; Nowlan Place between Ridge Avenue and East 8th Street; East Bergen Avenue between Somerset Avenue; and the entire stretch of Washington Avenue.


The contract indicates that the Township intends to commence work as soon as possible after the contract award and that all work on this contract shall be completed within 150 calendar days.


The project was designed for the Township by Colliers Engineering and Design Inc. DBA Maser Consulting of Red Bank.


The Township received bids from 6 prospective contractors. Earl's bid was the lowest responsive and responsible bid.
