Flyers are making their rounds on behalf of Rabbi Avi Schnall's campaign against Assemblyman Ned Thomson, who has been in office since 2017.
The flyer proclaims in English, "our Gedolim have spoken. Their voice is unanimous. It's time to elect Avi Schnall."
However, a careful reading of the original Hebrew letter - which is actually a personal letter to him and not even addressed to the Klal - appears to not contain any actual endorsement.
In fact, the letter makes it clear that Rabbi Schnall "decided on his own" to run for office. I.e. he is obviously NOT running as a "Shlucha D'Rabanan."
Additionally, the letter "recognizes his good" and "sends him brachos."
However, the letter falls short of telling anyone to go vote for him.
Obviously, the Roshei Yeshiva actually want everyone to vote for Republican Assemblyman Ned Thomson, the incumbent who has been a friend to our community.

CHUTZPA
A TOTAL CHUTZPA TO PUT WORDS IN THE RABBIS MOUTHS. NO ONE ENDORSED ANY CANDIDATE HE DIDNT EVEN DISCUSS THE POLITICAL OPTIONS AND SITUATION IN TOWN. HE TOLD THEM HE IS RUNNING AND ASKED FOR THEIR BLESSINGS AND THEY GAVE HIM.
Schnall is the ultimate swamp creature. He was the one who told us that we must have Hakurahs Hatov & to hold our noses to vote for Murphy even though he's got disgusting Democrat beliefs. I guess 'do as I say, when I say it' , not as I actually do. Suddenly there's no need for Hakurahs Hatov for the incumbent when it involves Schnall's self-interest. Please vote Hakurahs Hatov especially this time for the Republican incumbent.
