LAKEWOOD PLANNING BOARD CARRIES 3 MAJOR APPLICATIONS DUE TO HEAVY OPPOSITION REPRESENTED BY ATTORNEY JAN MEYER

Lakewood Planning Board's tonight declined to vote on 3 major applications, and instead carried all of the applications to future meetings.

Neighbors of all 3 applications have retained Teaneck Attorney Jan Meyer Esq. to represent their opposition to the applications.

Yeshiva Chemdas Hatorah is seeking reconsideration of the Board's previous determination of lack of jurisdiction over their application for 125 homes on James Street and Cross Street.

The application is represented by Attorney John Doyle Esq.

Mr. Meyer argued that the Board can not reconsider the application and must adopt a Resolution of Denial.

As Board Chairman Moshe Neiman had not yet arrived at the meeting, Acting Chairman Bruce Stern stated that the request for reconsideration will be tabled to a future hearing.

Sunset Road Sefardic Congregation's application is represented by Attorney Adam Pfeffer Esq.

Committeeman Albert Ackerman stated that he sat in mediation between the parties in this application. Board Attorney John Jackson Esq. told him that in that case he should recuse himself from the application. At that point the Board lacked a quorum so the application was adjourned.

Kollel Kodshim was represented by Attorney Rob Shea Esq.

To much applause from the neighbors, Mr. Meyer emphasized that the neighbors are happy for the yeshiva's growth, however, this location is simply too small and not suitable for this building.

Board Chairman Neiman urged the yeshiva's administration to adjudicate the neighbors concerns in Bais Din.

BMG Rosh Yeshiva Rav Dovid Shustal then spoke passionately regarding the chashivus of the growth of yeshivos in Lakewood.

Ultimately, the Board held off from voting, and instead directed the applicant to submit revised plans to clarify the use of the top floor.
