RETAIL PURCHASING IN LAKEWOOD DOWN $2.2 MILLION

Lakewood's Urban Enterprise Zone program uses annual grant money to offer business loans and grants to certified UEZ businesses as well as numerous other business encouragement incentives such as business-to-business networking events.

Lakewood Development Corporation (which administers the Lakewood UEZ) Executive Director David Klein on Tuesday announced that for FY '25, the Lakewood UEZ will receive a cut of $300,000 from last year's grant award.

The reason for this grant award cut is because retail purchasing in Lakewood is down substantially, with Home Depot seeing a $1.2 million dip in sales from last year, and our top 30 retailers experiencing a $1 million cut in sales from last year, Mr. Klein explained.
