At their next meeting next Monday night, the Lakewood Board of Fire Commissioners is once again set to approve salary increases for their district staff.
As previously reported here on FAA News, back in December 2023, the Fire Commissioners gave Chief Jonathan Yahr a $50,000 salary increase, from $191,732 to $240,000, (plus annual increases of $10,000 for each of the next two years).
At the same time, the Fire Commissioners increased Fire District Administrator Yehuda Beer's salary from $155,000 to $162,562.50, with annual increases of approximately $8,000 for each of the next two years. Mr. Beer's contract provides that he will also receive a department sponsored vehicle, or, be entitled to a $25,000 annual automobile/clothing allowance.
The Fire Commissioners are now set to increase the salaries of Deputy Fire Administrator Steven Mulholland and Clerk Erin Belfiglio.
The fire district's 2024 budget includes a salary of $110,000 for Deputy Fire Administrator Steven Mulholland.
The Fire Commissioners are now set to approve the following salaries:
January 1, 2025 - December 31, 2025 - $122,424
January 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026 - $128,545
January 1, 2027 - December 31, 2027 - $134,973
Mr. Mulholland will be entitled each year to 13 paid holidays, 3 paid personal leave days, 25 vacation leave days, and 12 sick leave working days.
In March 2021, the Fire Commissioners hired a new clerk, Erin Belfiglio, with a 3 1/2 year contract starting at approximately $44,000 for the first year, and approximately a $1,000 annual raise thereafter.
As previously reported here on FAA News, already in November 2022, the fire commissioners increased this salary by $11,000.
Now, the Commissioners are set to approve the following salaries:
January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025 - $68,750
January 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026 - $72,187
January 1, 2027 – December 31, 2027 - $75,797
January 1, 2028 – December 31, 2028 - $79,586
Ms. Belfiglio shall be entitled to a $4,000.00 increase in base pay upon successful completion and continued certification of the Registered Municipal Clerks (RMC) license, pro-rated.
All fire District employees are entitled to paid family health benefit insurance.
