Lakewood Township officials this week gave initial nods to granting a $300,000 grant for one local developer as well as to purchase drones for local volunteers and to purchase new shuttle buses, however they did put the brakes on one request.
NPGS presented a request to the Lakewood Development Corporation for $12,500 to fund a handicap lift.
A store representative explained that they have offices above their store and a number of their existing employees have become disabled and are in wheelchairs which currently, other employees assist by carrying them up the steps. They are therefore looking for funding to install an ADA-compliant lift to make things easier for their employees.
LDC Executive Director David Klein stated that he may potentially be able to get the State UEZ Authority on board to funding such a project.
However, LDC Board Member Rabbi Moshe Zev Weisberg pushed back, noting that the project would fall under a Technology Incentive and the LDC's current Small Business Technology Incentive is limited to $5,000 per incentive.
More information on LDC's various incentives and loans is available here on FAA News.
