D.R. Horton today closed on the $6,177,039 purchase of Phase I of the planned Jackson Woods South East development.
The Jackson Development Company was the original developer of this project.
Jackson Woods is a planned development of a total of 465 homes off of Freehold Road, which is located in the Township's Planned Mixed Unit Residential Development zone.
Section 1 will consist of 186 town houses.
As previously reported here on FAA News, back in April 2023, the Jackson Township Planning Board granted final approval for Section 2, which will consist of an additional 279 town homes.
Many of the homes will include basements. The Site Plan depicts off-road curb cut areas dedicated for additional parking, as well as widened sidewalks to accommodate a bike path.
The open space area will meet or exceed the Township's Open Space requirements for this zoning district.
The Ocean County Planning Board is requiring the developers to install a left turn lane from Freehold Road into the site driveway.
D.R. Horton's slogan is "We are America’s Builder."
Since their company's inception in 1979, they have delivered more than 1,000,000 homes across the nation.
They currently operate across 33 states and 113 markets.
D.R. Horton is currently being sued in Louisiana by many homeowners who allege that the houses they built are defective and not properly constructed to withstand Louisiana’s humidity.
Recently unsealed court documents show D.R. Horton handled at least 1,100 complaints about mold, water leaks, structural defects and high humidity in Louisiana homes dating back as far back as 2007. The work orders provide a glimpse into the ventilation system breakdowns as well as alleged failings in how the company responded when issues arose. The records indicate problems often persisted even after D.R. Horton made repairs, forcing new homebuyers to submit multiple work orders for the same issue.
