LAKEWOOD SCOOP REPORT LANDS LAKE TERRACE BACK IN COURT

Lake Terrace has been out of the courtroom for a relatively quiet number of months. However, thanks to an article on The Lakewood Scoop, they are now being shlepped back to court, FAA News has learned.

The TLS article reported that there were 1,700 guests at a Chai Lifeline Chanukah celebration which was held at Lake Terrace.

Lake Terrace's industrial neighbor has now filed a motion to enforce litigants rights, asserting that the venue violated their previously imposed court orders requiring them to not exceed 700 guests, maintain all their parking on-site, and provide traffic directors.

The court filing includes the TLS report as an exhibit.

The neighbor's attorney sent a letter to the Township’s police department, zoning officer and code enforcement department, asking them to investigate the matter.

The now filed motion contends that the Township is now also in violation of their court orders which requires them to investigate all complaints filed against Lake Terrace.

The court filing also highlights that the event - which occurred in the afternoon- is a direct contradiction to Lake Terrace's vehement testimony at the Zoning Board’s public hearings that they only host events at night when their neighbors' businesses are anyways not disturbed.

The motion seeks to require Lake Terrace and the Township to pay sanctions as well as attorneys fees and other expenses incurred for the filing of the motion.

The motion, which was filed by Toms River Attorney Rob Shea Esq., notes that Lake Terrace has not yet paid the $5,000 and $12,000 in sanctions and legal fees Judge Ford previously ordered them to pay. The new motion seeks an Order demanding they pay up within 10 days.

Ocean County Superior Court Assignment Judge Francis Hodgson has scheduled a hearing on the motion to be held on Friday, January 31, 2025.

As recently reported here on FAA News, Lakewood’s taxpayers have already forked up over $270,000 in legal fees to keep Lake Terrace's doors open.

The Chai Lifeline event occurred on a Sunday afternoon, a time when local businesses are closed, similar to weekday evenings. With 1,700 participants, this family-oriented event was designed for children. Considering the average family size in the Lakewood area, let’s use a conservative estimate of two adults and five children per family. This would result in approximately 242 cars. If we also account for staff and volunteers, let’s add another hundred, totaling 350.
This motion seems to be disingenuous.

its nice the scoop posted 1700 ppl but look at the pictures, this was in the lobby and kabolas panim room with barely anyone there! they didn't use the main ballroom the organization that held it put out a press release to sound grand but there wasn't even a few hundred people there. the judge is going to laugh at this as he will look at the same scoop and see the pictures

1700 participants doesn’t mean they were all there at the same time. It could have been over a few hours. There’s no way to prove how many were in there at once. This is a frivolous filing and should result in sanctions.

“its nice the scoop posted 1700 ppl but look at the pictures, this was in the lobby and kabolas panim room with barely anyone there”
You are confusing the police foundation party which took place in the lobby of Lake Terrace on Monday evening this week, with the chai lifeline party a week ago which took place in the grand ballroom.
